Early Warning Signs of Macular Degeneration and Retinal Changes
Macular degeneration rarely announces itself with pain. That is part of why it causes so much trouble. People often feel fine, pass a basic vision screening, and assume their eyes are healthy, even while subtle changes are beginning in the macula, the small but critical area at the center of the retina responsible for sharp, detailed sight. By the time the blurring becomes obvious, the process may already be well underway. I have seen this pattern many times in practice.
